Shanxi's ancient building —— Hunyuan Hanging Temple
Introduction to Hunyuan Hanging Temple:
Xuankling Temple is located between the cliffs of Cuiping Peak on the west side of Hengshan Jinlong Gorge, Hunyuan County, Datong City, Shanxi Province. It is known as "Xuankling Temple, half a day high, three ponytail hanging from the air". It is famous for its precipitous appearance to the abyss. Built in the late Northern Wei Dynasty 1,400 years ago, it is the only remaining unique temple in China integrating Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism.
The Temple was originally called "Xuan empty Pavilion", "Xuan" comes from the traditional Chinese religion of Taoism, and "empty" comes from the doctrines of Buddhism. It was later renamed "Hanging Temple", because the whole temple is like hanging on a cliff, in Chinese, "hanging" and "xuan", hence the name. It was selected in Time magazine's top 10 unstable buildings in the world.
